Message templates

Bobclass writes to your clients on your behalf — confirming a booking, telling them a class has moved, asking whether they still want a spot that has opened up. Each of those messages is a template you can edit, so it sounds like your studio rather than like software.
All of them live in Settings → Messaging.

The templates

Messaging app and Email footer sit on the same screen but are not templates — see  Messaging channels  and  Email footer .

What you can edit

Open any template and you get three things:
  • Enable — a switch. Turned off, that message is not sent.
  • Subject — the line clients see first.
  • Message — the body.

Placeholders

Templates use placeholders that are filled in with the real details when the message goes out:
  • #ACTIVITY — the name of the class or appointment
  • #DATE and #TIME
  • #LOCATION
  • #INSTRUCTOR
So a subject reading "A spot has opened up #ACTIVITY, #DATE, #TIME" arrives as "A spot has opened up Barre Burn, Friday 28 August, 14:30".
Edit the words, but leave the punctuation around the placeholders as it is. The braces and tags surrounding them control what happens when a detail is missing, or when one message covers several sessions. Changing them can produce a message with stray commas or a missing line.

How each message reaches your client

Some messages go out from our servers on their own. Others open your own messaging app with the text already written, so you press send. It is worth knowing which is which, because the device-sent ones only leave when you are there to send them.

Sent by our servers means the message leaves whether or not your phone is on. It is an email, and it carries whatever you have set as your  email footer .
Sent from your device means Bobclass hands the text to your own email, SMS or WhatsApp app and you press send. Which of those it uses is the Messaging app setting, and it is set per device — see  Messaging channels .
Confirmations, cancellations and reschedules also reach clients a second way. If a client has Bobclass Go installed and is signed in, they get a push notification about the change regardless of whether the template message was sent. The push is not something you compose or switch off in the templates. See  Push notifications  for the full picture, including what pushes to you.

Marketing templates

Messages you compose and send to a group of clients — a new term, a change of timetable, a class you want to fill. These have their own article:  Marketing messages .
