BETA — selected accounts only. Auto-renewing memberships are in beta ahead of a full launch. They are currently available only to studios on the Bobclass Studio plan who have been invited to participate. If you're on the Studio plan and want in, contact us at support@bobclass.com.
An auto-renewing membership charges the client automatically at a fixed interval — monthly, for example — instead of the client having to come back and repurchase it themselves each time it expires. Under the hood, this creates a genuine Stripe subscription: Stripe handles the recurring billing, and Bobclass reflects its status back to you and the client.
This is a separate product from the regular Membership, which does not renew automatically and must be repurchased by the client each time it expires.
Setting it up in Bobclass Studio Manager
1. Connect Stripe
Auto-renewing memberships require a connected Stripe account — this is what actually processes the recurring charge. If you haven't already, connect your Stripe account under Settings → Payments → Online card payments. See About Stripe.
2. Turn on automatic renewal for a membership
Go to Settings → Products → Memberships, and select or create a membership. Then:
Enable Automatic renewal — this creates a matching subscription in Stripe.
Set Repeat every to the renewal interval, e.g. 1 month for a monthly renewal.
3. Set up how the recurring charge is collected
There's nothing to configure in Settings for this — how the recurring charge is collected depends on what the client does, and on your Stripe account:
Direct debit through SEPA — the client needs a direct debit mandate on file, giving you permission to collect payments from their bank account. Send the mandate request from the client's profile, under Financials . Once the client accepts it, its status shows Active in green — from that point on, the client can purchase the auto-renewing membership online using SEPA direct debit. Your bank account details for receiving these payments are managed directly in your Stripe account, not in Bobclass.
Direct debit through credit card charge — no mandate is needed here. Consent is implicit in the card purchase itself, and this activates as soon as the client purchases the auto-renewing subscription online.
What the client sees in Bobclass Go
The client goes to the Store tab, scrolls to Memberships , and selects an auto-renewing one — recognizable by a price shown as "/month" rather than a one-time price.
They start the purchase flow. Which payment method they're offered for the recurring charge depends on how you configured it above.
Once the purchase completes, the billing cycle starts. A first SEPA direct debit charge can take up to 6 days to clear; a first credit card charge is instant.
The client manages their own billing — including cancelling the subscription at any time — through the Stripe Customer Portal , linked from the Profile tab in Bobclass Go.

The client can cancel any time via the Stripe Customer Portal, linked from their Profile tab in Bobclass Go.
You, the studio owner, can cancel it from Bobclass Studio Manager , in the client's profile under Billing → Subscriptions .
Pricing
Auto-renewing memberships run as genuine Stripe subscriptions, so two separate Stripe fees apply on top of each other — a per-charge processing fee, and a small fee for Stripe's subscription-management product (Stripe Billing) that powers the recurring charge itself. Both are charged by Stripe directly, not by Bobclass.
Stripe Billing (subscription management, either payment method) — 0.7% of billing volume on the pay-as-you-go tier, in addition to the processing fee above.
These are Stripe's standard published rates for Spain/EEA as of September 2026 — check the linked pages for your own account's actual rate, since it can vary by country and by any custom terms on your Stripe account.
